[ARCHIVED] Emergency Phone Notification System Change

The City of Sand Springs announced today that they will be
changing emergency phone notification systems. Deputy Chief of
Police Mike Carter said, “We are always looking to use taxpayer
money more efficiently and to make improvements in our notification
system.” The City will start using the CivicReady system as of July
1st, 2014, and encourages all citizens to go to the city web site and
update their information. “All landlines in the corporate city limits that
are listed will automatically be enrolled in the system and will receive
emergency and tornado warnings”, Carter said. Cell phone, unlisted
numbers and SMS text users will need to enroll in the system and
update their information as well.

One of the major improvements for citizens will be that they may
enroll for customizable alerts. Citizens may enroll to get watches and
or warnings for each type of weather event. Carter said, “A person
may want tornado and flash flood warnings, but not thunderstorms or
other types of weather events. This system will allow each person to
make the choices which best fit their lifestyle”.

This service is offered free of charge to citizens and businesses in
Sand Springs. To enroll, go to the following link:
